Welcome to FCE4: Making the Final Cut.

Reality TV has nothing on this groundbreaking new class that has been designed specifically for PACE Correspondence School students. Part online class, part contest, part reality show, this course will take two groups of high school students, divide them into teams, and challenge them to create a video masterpiece by June 2009. The catch? Only one team will walk away with the highly esteemed and rarely understood, Golden Cowbell Award.

Here are the tools we plan to use:

Powerful Video Editing for DV, HDV, and AVCHD

Powerful Video Editing for DV, HDV, and AVCHD

Final Cut Express is a software package created by Apple Inc and is used to deliver robust yet easy-to-use video editing tools based on the same principles used by professional filmmakers around the world. Some features included in FCE4 are:

  • The ability to edit HDV, AVCHD, and DV in real time in what is now referred to as an open format Timeline.
  • The ability to integrate iMovie projects into your FCE4 to enhance the creative options.
  • The inclusion of LiveType, which allows you to animate text and graphics quickly and easily with the included, and royalty free, textures, objects, effects, and templates.
  • Finally, FCE4 allows you to see your effects immediately after adding them instead of waiting for the long rendering process. This allows you to test effects more quickly and explore all of the options in a short time.
Movie Making for Everyone

Movie Making for Everyone

The text for this course is part of the Apple Pro Training Series and is entitled Final Cut Express 4 | Movie Making for Everyone by Author Diana Weynand. The book delivers the techniques needed to edit professional quality movies. Each chapter focuses on an aspect of video editing and finishing, with hands-on projects that you will complete as you move through this course. The nice thing about this Apple Professional Training Series text is that it includes a DVD with all of the clips students will need to complete the projects in the book. This text includes:

  • DVD-ROM with lesson and media files
  • Lessons that take students step-by-step through real world projects.
  • Ample illustrations and a writing style that compliments our high school aged students.
  • Lesson goals and time estimates that will help you plan your time.
  • Chapter review questions which will form the basis of the assessments you will take as you move through the course material.

Are you ready to get started? Can you taste the fame that comes along with the Golden Cowbell?
