April Missions
April Mission #1:
Creating your Secret Agent Recruit Badge Photo Identification.
Your first mini mission this month will entail you creating and enhancing a photo for your recruit identification badge. Your badge will be used to help you gain entry into the PACE Technology Agency Headquarters. Without your photo badge (and an optical retinal scan) there is no chance of making passed our security team and features (including a crocodile infested moat). To create your photo badge, we will first need a photo (obviously). To complete this mission, follow the steps:
1. Use the Photo Booth application (found in your dock or in your applications folder) and snap a picture of yourself. Shoulders and head are appropriate for a badge photo. You are encouraged to use the filters, effects, and backgrounds that some with Photo Booth. It is OK if your photo makes it difficult to tell it is you, as our security has a scanning device that removes any filters or effects that you apply. Be creative…
2. You can add your picture to iPhoto by clicking on the iPhoto icon above the tray when you are viewing your picture. Another way to add your picture to iPhoto is to to drag your picture from the tray at the bottom of the Photo Booth window (where your pictures are kept) onto the iPhoto shortcut in your dock. If the iPhoto icon is not in your dock, you can launch the program by double clicking the iPhoto icon in the Applications folder and then dragging your Photo Booth image into the large pictures window in iPhoto. You can refer to the More Ways to Import Photos (Importing from the Finder) section on pages 132-133 in your text.
3. Now that you have your picture copied from Photo Booth to iPhoto, I would like you to crop it to the correct size. View the full size image in iPhoto and then click the pencil (edit) button and then click the crop button. Check the box to constrain proportions (if it is not already checked) and then cop the image to 640 x 480. Then click Apply.
4. After you have cropped your image, I want you to upload the picture to my online folder for review. To do this you follow the same steps as when you uploaded your gadget blueprint. The directions are:
- Drag your cropped image to the desktop
- Name the image by clicking on the name once (it should highlight) and just type your first name last initial. You can leave the .jpg extension at the end of the name or delete that. It doesn’t matter in this case.
- Upload your badge picture to my MobileMe Public Folder by accessing the page and using the upload button you find on the webpage. You will be asked to browse and locate the file on your computer (hopefully you saved it on the desktop) and then simply click upload.
- Once your PDF design is uploaded to my folder, leave me a message in the Switchboard under the Badge Image Upload Successful heading.
